Operation of tobacco shops is forbidden in malls, hypermarkets and gas stations from June

The National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary (NTCA) announced that from 1 June 2014 it is forbidden to operate tobacco shops in malls, hypermarkets and gas stations.

Practically those tobacco shops that are operated in places that are bigger than 2500 m2 have to be closed until 31 May 2014.

If the owners of tobacco shops that are located in such places do not change the premises until 30 May 2014, their license will be withdrawn by the NTCA.

Another restriction is that two tobacco shops cannot be operated within 200 meters.
